The Faculty
of Resources, characterized by resource science and engineering,
combining engineering education with scientific research, is a
faculty where groups more superior disciplines and specialties.
After the pioneering and growing for nearly half century, the
Faculty of Resources has developed into an important base for
geosciences engineering education and scientific research, with
a state-level key discipline, a ministerial-level open laboratories,
a quantitative geosciences research center as well as 3 departments
and 6 research institutes. The faculty sets up a center for post-doctoral
study. Three academic programs are authorized to grant Doctor¨s
degree, 4 academic programs to grant Master¨s degree. The three
majors!Resource Prospecting Engineering, Petroleum Engineering,
Land Resources Management recruit students for 4-year study. Among
them, the Resource Prospecting Engineering takes on the great
task of establishing the geological engineering basic class for
the Ministry of State Land Resources. So far, the faculty has
trained over 6,500 highly qualified professionals at various levels
for our country including 5 academicians, some of whom have become
noted geoscientists both at home and abroad.
At present,
the Faculty of Resources comprises 3 departments!the Department
of Resource Science and Engineering, the Petroleum and Natural
Gas Engineering Department, Land Resources Management Department;
and 6 research institutes!the research institute for mathematics
geosciences and remote sensing, for basin analysis and sedimentary
mineral, for resource information system, for petroleum and natural
gas, for gold and for land. The faculty has a strong teaching
staff, comprising 23 full professors (12 doctorate supervisors),
32 associate professors, as well as quite a batch of young academic
backbones, led by Academician Zhao Pengda. The course covers many
areas, involving the survey, exploitation, evaluation, administration,
planning and protection for resources (including mineral resources
in solid, gas and liquid forms as well as land and tourism resources).
The Faculty
of Resources has favorable teaching conditions, with advanced
and complete experimental equipment and technological devices.
Those who would like to devote themselves to probing the mystery
of resources science, to innovating resource engineering are quite
welcome here for studying, furthering training and taking up scientific
research work.
